Van Espahbodi

Starburst Aerospace Co-Founder & Managing Partner

Van Espahbodi is the Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Starburst Aerospace. He is uniting early-stage technology innovators with private investment to modernize infrastructure in mobility, communications, and intelligence. Van Espahbodi launched Starburst's first US office in Los Angeles in 2015. He has 16+ years of experience in aerospace, identifying future trends, shaping product strategy and investment trade policies. Having worked in government and corporate strategy positions in both defense and commercial aviation markets, Van Espahbodi started his career as a congressional aide before joining Raytheon and later UK NATS, the British air navigation service provider. Following graduate studies at George Mason University, Van participated in executive programs at Thunderbird School of Management in AZ and Cranfield School of Management in the UK. He currently serves as a member of the Economic Development Advisory Council for the City of El Segundo and the Advisory Board of the MIT Enterprise Forum.

Made In Space Vice President

Kevin DiMarzio is the Vice President of business development for Made in Space. He leads a team of professionals in the identification and capture of new opportunities, customer engagement and retention, and business strategy focused on technology solutions. Since joining Made In Space, many new technology development efforts have been added to the Made In Space portfolio that align with the core vision of bringing manufacturing and industrialization to outer space, including Archinaut One (OSAM-2). Recent efforts include new material processing techniques, quality tool sets, and unique ways to use existing terrestrial methodologies in the microgravity and space environment.

Prior to joining Made In Space, Kevin DiMarzio worked for Siemens Energy in the power generation sector primarily focused on the large gas and steam turbine industries. At Siemens, Mr. DiMarzio worked as a multi-disciplinary design engineer and a proposals manager.

Kevin DiMarzio holds a Master’s of Business Administration and a Bachelor’s of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Central Florida.

Engineered Products, Inc. Vice President, RF Design Engineer

Justine Blank is the Co-Founder and Vice President of a high-tech startup in Youngstown, Ohio where she leads the design and development of embedded RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) products. Utilizing AM (Additive Manufacturing-3-D printing) to produce rapid prototypes, she is currently working on an extreme temperature RFID sensor for the Aerospace Industry. She is a member of the NASA Advanced Air Mobility Supply Chain Working Group and EPI holds many patents for custom RFID Tag designs and hardware. Justine Blank is a resident RFID Subject Matter expert for Parker Hannifin and several other companies throughout the United States and abroad. Prior to founding EPI, she worked as a consultant specializing in RFID and has over 28 years in Advanced Manufacturing Technologies and Automation. She holds APICS, PM, & RFID certifications and also conducts corporate Lean “Kaizen” events for Continuous Improvement projects and Six Sigma certification.

Kathleen Gilpin

WSRI Director of National Engagement, APEX

Kathleen Gilpin is the Director of National Engagement for Academic Partnership Engagement Experiment (APEX) at Wright State Research Institute (WSRI). She received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Rochester Institute of Technology, Master’s degree in National Security studies from the Naval War College, and Doctor of Philosophy in Neuroscience from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. She continued her training as a post-doctoral fellow at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory and worked as a staff scientist in the Warfighter Readiness Division of the Air Force Research Laboratory.

MSTATT LLC Chief Technology Officer

Matt McPheeters has 10+ years of experience in biomedical optics and sensing. He is a co-founder and is serving as MSTATT's Chief Technology Officer. He is operating as the architect for its dental diagnostic device and has had a critical role in preparing and submitting SBIR proposals, including the one that MSTATT was awarded from the NSF in January 2020.
