Abstract:
An innovative sensor concept termed the laser optical transceiver system (LOTS)
has been investigated for remotely determining a cooperative vehicle's orientation
in pitch, yaw, and roll. Such a system would be useful to support automation of spacecraft
rendezvous, station-keeping, and docking. The Phase I effort successfully demonstrated
the technical feasibility of this concept with a two-dimensional, laboratory breadboard
demonstration.
Potential Commercial Application:
Potential Commercial Application: Applications are in the remote sensing of a cooperative
target's orientation with respect to the sensor's frame of reference.
