INNOVATION
- Fast, low insertion loss photonic switched time delay
|

Prototype 8-bit time delay module
|
ACCOMPLISHMENTS
- Demonstrated two (8-bit and 4-bit modules) high performance optical delay lines
- Time delays achieved with 8-bit module are 300 pico-seconds to micro-seconds with < 3.5dB insertion loss and a few pico-seconds to 300 pico-seconds with < 3.0dB insertion loss for the 4-bit module
- Demonstrated operating range is from -40 Celsius to 70 Celsius
|
COMMERCIALIZATION
- Commercial product sales attributable to the project have reached $1 million annually
- Aerospace and the defense industry are the primary market for this technology
|
GOVERNMENT/SCIENCE
APPLICATIONS- Technology may be used to develop very large spaceborne radar arrays in the future
